Astronomically, Jupiter is the largest
planet of our solar system, expansive enough to be 1,300 times of earth
in size. This planet is entirely composed of gases and hence also the
lightest one. 39 Moons or natural satellites of the Jupiter have been
discovered so far. It is also one of the slowest moving planets in our
solar system. Jupiter is the 5th planet of our solar system.
In astrology, Jupiter occupies a special place and also in Indian mythology
Jupiter is considered to be the teacher of gods. This is the reason
why Jupiter had prime significance in astrology also.
In astrological parlance, Jupiter is the natural significator of work,
gold, religion, yagyas, son and friend among other things. In medical
astrology, Jupiter rules stomach and liver.
In astrology, Jupiter governs the zodiac signs of Sagittarius and Pisces.
Jupiter is debilitated in the sign of Capricorn and the sign of exaltation
of Jupiter is Cancer.
As based on the horoscope the malefic or benefic effect of the planet
Jupiter is determined in relation to a person astrologically and not
merely on the basis of exaltation or debilitation because under certain
conditions even a debilitated Jupiter can give beneficial effects whereas
based on its position and degrees in the horoscope even an exalted Jupiter
can sometimes give malefic effects.
As we have explained in our astrology research article “ What
is Mantra” Mantras can be classified under two broad categories:
-
1. Tantrik Mantras ( Beeja Mantras)
2. Vedic Mantras
Therefore, chanting of Tantrik or Vedic Mantra of the concerned planet
1,25,000 times or its half, 62,500 times reduces the malefic effects
of that planet. In Panchangas, this number of times for the chanting
of mantra for the Jupiter is given as 19,000 when by chanting only 19,000
times the Mantra of the Jupiter nothing substantial can be achieved
and it is 1,25,000 times chanting alone which can give proper results.
The Tantrik Mantra (Beej Mantra) of the Jupiter: -
"Om Graam Greem Graum
Sah Gurve Namah"
The Vedic Mantra of the Jupiter: -
Om Vrihaspate Atiyadaryoa
Arhadyum Dwibhati Kratumajjaneshu Yaddidayacha Vas A Ritprajaat Tadasmaasudravinandhehichitram
Upyaam Grihitosi Vrihaspatye Tveshteyonirbrihaspataye Tva
Vrihaspatye Namah
The sun can be propitiated from either kind of mantras but among these
Tantrik Mantras ( Beeja Mantras) are more popular. By undertaking this
“Anushthana” ( Puja & Homa{ Ritual of Chanting of Mantras})
one can remove the malefic effects of the Jupiter especially when performed
in the Major Period ( Mahadasha) or Sub-Periods ( Antar Dashas) of the
Jupiter.
